RSP As Frontrunner in HoR Election Race

Vote counting is ongoing following Thursday’s House of Representatives elections in Nepal, with early results showing a strong performance by the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
So far, results have been announced for 57 constituencies, with RSP winning 47 and leading in 70 constituencies.
Notable victories include Sagar Bhusal in Parbat, Ravi Lamichhane in Chitwan 2, Santosh Rajbanshi in Morang 4, Rubina Acharya in Morang 6, and multiple wins across Kathmandu constituencies 1 through 10. Other key RSP winners include Uttam Prasad Paudel in Kaski 2, Bina Gurung in Kaski 3, Kanhaiya Baniya in Rupandehi 4, and Suresh Kumar Chauri in Banke 1.
The Nepali Congress has secured victories in four constituencies, including Tek Bahadur Gurung in Manang 1, Yogesh Gauchan Thakali in Mustang 1, Santosh Subba in Terhathum 1, and Basana Thapa in Dailekh 1, while its candidates lead in 10 other constituencies.
The Nepali Communist Party (NCP) has registered wins in Rukum East 1, where its cordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal was victorious and Kalikot where Mahendra Bahadur Shahi won, with the party leading in 5 additional areas.
The Communist Party of Nepal (UML) has won in Banke 1 and Bajhang 1, and leads in 6 other constituencies.
Other notable results include independent candidate Mahabir Pun, former Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, winning in Myagdi.
Candidates from the Shram Sanskriti Party leads in four constituencies, while the Rastriya Prajatantra Party leads in one.
Early results indicate a significant political shift in Nepal, with the relatively new RSP challenging the dominance of traditional parties.
