NPL II: Lumbini Lions Beat Kathmandu Gorkhas
Lumbini Lions have entered the Qualifier II of Nepal Premier League NPL Season two with a 4-wicket win over Kathmandu Gorkhas.
In the first eliminator at the TU Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur, Lumbini chased the target of 112 runs in 17.1 overs for the loss of 6 wickets.
Earlier, Kathmandu that elected to bat first failed with the bat with young all-rounder Santosh Yadav being the highest scorer with 24 runs while Md. Adil Allam contributed 18 runs as the inning folded in 19.1 overs for 111.
Sher Malla continued his impressive run in the tournament with another 3-wicket haul along with skipper Rohit Poudel also picked up three wickets for the Lions.
In reply, the chase was not smooth but D’Arcy Short’s 33 runs at the top and Sandeep Jora’s 23 helped Lumbini Lions reach the target in 17.4 overs with four wickets in hand.
Lumbini now play Biratnagar Kings in the second Qualifier of the tournament tomorrow.
The winner will face Sudurpaschim Royals in Saturday’s final of the second edition of the franchise league organized by Cricket Association of Nepal.
