Iran Says US Tone Has Changed as Efforts to Revive Talks Continue

Iran’s top security official has said the United States has significantly changed its tone as Washington seeks to revive negotiations with Tehran, signalling a possible opening for renewed diplomatic engagement.

Mohsen Rezaei, head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said he had reviewed a letter sent by US Vice President JD Vance but had not yet responded.

“Their tone has completely changed,” Rezaei said in a video broadcast on Iranian state television, describing the shift as a positive sign.

His remarks came as US President Donald Trump said negotiations with Iran were “going fine”, although he was in no hurry to reach an agreement.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said indirect discussions with Qatari mediators were continuing over a plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within two days, provided Washington cooperates.

The diplomatic efforts come amid renewed tensions, with Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei having ordered military commanders to respond immediately to any potential threats from the United States or Israel.

Iranian officials have said they have no immediate plans for direct talks with US representatives, despite continuing mediation efforts.
