Korala Border Becoming Revenue Powerhouse, Collected Rs 1.78 Billion in 15 Days

The Nepal-China customs office located at Lomanthang-4, Nhechung in Korala border point has raked in an impressive revenue of Rs 1.78 billion over just 15 days. This surge in revenue comes in the wake of flooding in Bhotekoshi (Rasuwagadhi-Kerung) in Rasuwa, which has led to a notable increase in goods entering the Mustang Customs Office from China.

Customs Chief Bidur Chudal shared that with the Rasuwagadhi-Kerung border point completely shut down, the influx of Chinese goods from Korala in Mustang has been on the rise.

Just last Friday, the Mustang customs office alone collected a whopping Rs 270 million in a single day. Chief Chudal mentioned that since September 7, they expect to see an average daily revenue of around Rs 300 million from the Mustang Customs. On that same Friday, customs checks processed 71 containers and 106 electric vehicles (EVs) that were on their way to various destinations.

He also noted that since the closure of Rasuwagadhi, a total of 434 containers and 641 electric vehicles entering Nepal from Korala have been successfully checked at the customs office. (RSS)
