Power Restoration Intensified in Flood-Ravaged Areas: Ministry of Energy

The work to restore the electricity connection disrupted due to the flood in Rasuwa’s Bhotekoshi River has picked up pace, the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation said.

The Ministry stated that the campaign to resume the electricity service disrupted by the Rasuwa flood has been accelerated. The ministry had started moving ahead with electrification work from the very next day after the destructive flood on August 26, using all possible resources, including human resources.

The ministry adopted alternative measures to speed up electrification after the devastating flood caused huge damage to the electricity infrastructure. In this context, electricity service was restored on Tuesday in Bidur Municipality-10 and 11 of Nuwakot, which had been affected by the flood.

According to the ministry, so far electricity service has been restored in about 83 percent in Rasuwa and about 95 percent in Nuwakot.

Similarly, efforts have also been made to distribute two-kilowatt solar systems for community shelters and individual solar systems for households as needed through the Alternative Energy Promotion Center, in areas where electricity service is yet to be restored. (RSS)
