Search, Rescue Intensified at Upper Trishuli-1, Chilime and Rasuwagadhi Hydel Projects

Search and rescue operations have been intensified for individuals trapped in the tunnel areas of various hydropower projects in the district following the Bhotekoshi floods.

Assistant Chief District Officer Dhruba Prasad Adhikari informed RSS that search and rescue operations are vigorously taking place in the tunnel areas of the Upper Trishuli-1, Chilime, and Rasuwagadhi hydropower projects, involving the Nepali Army, the Armed Police Force, and Nepal Police, alongside expert teams from China, India, and Korea. The bodies of 140 flood victims have been recovered. Officials stated that 134 of the bodies were sent to Nuwakot for management.

Two thousand five hundred and sixty-four people are missing in Rasuwa after the disaster. According to the District Emergency Operation Center, the missing persons include 27 personnel from the Nepali Army’s Shrinath Battalion, 28 from the Nepal Police, 13 from the Armed Police Force, 79 government employees, 26 staff from banks and financial institutions, 1,226 residents of Rasuwa, 882 individuals from other districts, and 243 tourists.
