State Still Not Shy away from its Responsibility: Home Minister Gurung

Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has shared that the government has been making all possible efforts for the rescue of those trapped in tunnels of different hydropower projects, following the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi river.

At a news conference organised at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) on Tuesday, Home Minister Gurung said we have continued our efforts and have not lost hope. “Search and rescue efforts are underway identifying the crown of the tunnel. The state will not shy away from its responsibility.’

Almost all mechanisms and apparatus of the state have been mobilized for search and rescue of the missing persons, he clarified.

Minister Gurung underlined, ‘We have now become successful to reach the crown of the tunnel and efforts are underway to reach inside tunnel by digging through the top of the power house.’

He clarified that there was no truth on the talk that the government did not want to receive foreign support for search and rescue operation.

‘Drones are sent inside different tunnels. Efforts for rescue inside the tunnels are still underway. There is still hope,’ the Home Minister viewed. All available means and resources have been used to the maximum for post-disaster search, rescue and relief, he stated. (RSS)
