Rasuwa Floods: DNA Testing Process Begins to Identify Bodies

A process has been forwarded to allow the relatives of Nepali and foreign nationals reported missing in Bhotekoshi flash floods identify the bodies and body parts found after a DNA test.

The Nepal Police has thereby urged the relatives to provide necessary samples of their loved ones for the DNA verification.

Any first-degree relative –father, mother, son and daughter of missing persons who are in Nepal can provide fresh blood sample and Nepal Police has requested them to visit laboratory of Nepal Police Hospital, Maharajgunj or nearby District Police Office for this purpose.

The first-degree relatives of the people who reside abroad could send digital photocopy of DNA profiling conducted at authorized lab of the countries they are residing.

The full name of the concerned persons, identification details, missing date and place if possible, the DNA test report obtained from an authorized forensic lab and details of relationship are required to identify the bodies and body parts by comparing DNA profile, added police. (RSS)
