Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal Cancels Serbia Visit Following Rasuwa Floods

Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal has cancelled his planned visit to Belgrade, Serbia, following the devastating floods that caused significant loss of life and property in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and other areas of Nepal.

Khanal was scheduled to lead a three-member Nepali delegation to a High-Level Commemorative Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), to be held in Belgrade on August 31 and September 1. However, following the disaster, he decided to remain in Nepal to focus on the emergency situation.

Nepal will instead be represented at the meeting by a two-member delegation led by Krishna Prasad Dhakal, head of the United Nations and Specialized Agencies Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The commemorative meeting is being held in Belgrade to mark the 65th anniversary of the first NAM Summit, which was also hosted in the Serbian capital in 1961.
