Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province Steps Down

Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province, Kamal Bahadur Shah, has resigned from the post on Thursday.

Addressing the Sudurpaschim Assembly meeting, CM Shah announced that he resigned from the position in the wake of changing political equation. On July 15, the coalition partner, CPN UML, had withdrawn support to the government Shah was leading in the province.

Shah announced his resignation in the Province Assembly meeting which was called for vote of confidence.

The UML and the Nepali Communist Party have been preparing for formation of a new government as per the agreement reached at central level. As the largest party in the 53-member Province Assembly, the Nepali Communist Party will be leading the government. It has 22 members, while the UML 11, the Nepali Congress 18 and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party one in Province Assembly. (RSS)
