US Department of State Revokes Over 175,000 Visas Issued to Foreigners

The US Department of State has revoked more than 175,000 visas issued to foreign nationals since the start of President Donald Trump’s second term, as part of the administration’s broad campaign to tighten immigration enforcement.

In a statement, the Department said the visa revocations targeted foreign nationals who violated the terms of their visas, committed crimes, called for violence against US citizens, defrauded Americans, abused the immigration system, or posed a threat to national security.

It explained that most of the visas were revoked following interactions with law enforcement authorities, with assault, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, theft, and drug-related offenses among the main reasons.

The US Department of State had previously announced in January that it had revoked more than 100,000 visas, a record at the time, reflecting the expanding scope of the immigration crackdown launched by the Trump administration after his return to the White House last year. (QNA)
