Five-member Committee to Probe Nepali Self-immolation Case
The government has formed a five-member investigation committee to look into the self-immolation case of Ganesh Nepali.
Home Minister Sudhan Gurung informed Parliament that the committee is led by DIG Govinda Thapaliya.
The Home Minister emphasized that the incident reflects the role of local government more than the federal government, noting that Nepal has three tiers of government which must be understood in this context.
Responding in the House of Representatives today, he expressed sorrow that despite the government’s tireless efforts, Ganesh Nepali could not be saved.
He further stated that while his party leads the federal government, it does not hold power at the local or provincial levels, stressing that those in government at all tiers must take equal responsibility.
