Nepal Elected Chair of UNGA First Committee for 81st Session

Nepal has achieved another significant diplomatic milestone at the United Nations after being elected Chair of the First Committee (Disarmament and International Security) for the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The First Committee is one of the key committees of the UN General Assembly and deals with issues related to global disarmament, international security, and threats to peace.
Nepal’s election to the prestigious position reflects the country’s longstanding commitment to multilateralism, international peace and security, and global disarmament efforts for more than seven decades.
Expressing gratitude to all UN Member States for their trust and support, Nepal reaffirmed its commitment to carrying out the responsibility with impartiality, transparency, and inclusiveness.
The development is being viewed as a notable achievement for Nepal’s diplomatic presence and engagement at the United Nations.
