Western System Brings Rain and Snow to Nepal’s Hills

A western weather system combined with a low-pressure area over the Arabian Sea is influencing conditions across Nepal, bringing cloudy skies and light precipitation to several regions, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
The hilly provinces of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim are seeing partly cloudy skies this afternoon, while the Tarai plains remain largely clear.
Forecasters say light rain or snowfall is likely in isolated parts of the high-hill and Himalayan regions in all provinces.
By nightfall, most hilly areas are expected to remain partly to mostly cloudy, with the Gandaki and Karnali regions likely to experience moderate rainfall or snow at higher elevations.
The department has urged travelers and mountain communities to remain alert, as the system could bring slippery trails and temporary visibility drops in some passes.
