Voting Begins for House of Representatives Election in Nepal

Voting has begun across Nepal for the election to the House of Representatives of Nepal on Thursday, with citizens heading to polling centres nationwide to elect their representatives.

The election is being conducted under the supervision of the Election Commission of Nepal, which has completed all logistical and security preparations.

Polling started at 7:00 a.m. and will continue until 5:00 p.m. Voters are casting their ballots at thousands of polling stations set up across the country.

According to the Election Commission, millions of eligible voters have been registered for the election.

Security arrangements have been tightened to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful voting process. Personnel from the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force Nepal, and the Nepali Army have been deployed across polling centres. Authorities have urged voters to follow the election code of conduct and maintain order during the voting process.

Long queues of voters were seen at several polling centres since early morning, reflecting strong public participation in the democratic process.

Elderly citizens, women, and youth were among those arriving early to cast their votes.

The Election Commission stated that voting is proceeding peacefully in most parts of the country, though officials are closely monitoring the situation.

Election observers and representatives of political parties are also present at polling centres.

Vote counting will begin after the completion of polling and the transportation of ballot boxes to designated counting centres.

The results will determine the composition of the lower house of Nepal’s federal parliament.
