Voting Disrupted in Dolakha’s Polling Station After Dispute

Voting was disrupted at a polling station in Dolakha District central-eastern Nepal, after a dispute broke out among party representatives, officials said.

The incident occurred at Goleswor Secondary School polling center in Ward No. 4 of Tamakoshi Rural Municipality.

Tensions between representatives of political parties escalated, forcing election officials to halt the voting process.

Assistant Chief District Officer Aulakh Bahadur Ale said the dispute started after some booth representatives allegedly took away ballot papers and the official voting stamp.

“Some booth representatives took ballot papers and the stamp, which led to the dispute.

The missing ballot papers have not yet been fully recovered,” he said.

According to the district administration, 55 ballot papers were reported missing, of which 44 have been recovered so far, while the search for the remaining ballots continues.

Earlier in the day, election staff deployed at the same polling station were reportedly assaulted. Police fired warning shots into the air to bring the situation under control.

Authorities said efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining ballot papers and resume normal voting at the polling station.
