US and Jordan Launch Major Strikes Against ISIS in Syria

The U.S. military, alongside Jordanian forces, has carried out a large-scale airstrike campaign against ISIS targets in central Syria, releasing video footage and confirming the operation on social media.

According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), more than 70 ISIS positions were hit using over 100 precision munitions late Friday night. CENTCOM described the mission as “Peace through strength.”

The strikes are retaliation for a deadly attack on December 13, in which two American soldiers and a U.S. interpreter were killed near Palmyra.

Officials said the operation targeted ISIS fighters, infrastructure, and weapons sites across multiple locations.

The campaign, called “Operation Hawkeye Strike,” involved fighter jets, attack helicopters, artillery, and Jordanian F‑16 support, signaling a coordinated effort to weaken ISIS’s capabilities in the region.

Defense sources emphasized that this retaliatory strike is not the start of a wider war, but a strong message to terrorist groups operating in Syria.

President Donald Trump praised the strikes, reaffirming the U.S. commitment to counterterrorism and its readiness to protect American lives and allies abroad.

CENTCOM officials said the operation will continue targeting ISIS cells to prevent future attacks, although casualty numbers from the strikes have not been released. (RSS)
