UML Leaders Urge Chairman Oli to Step Down

Internal pressure appears to be mounting on CPN UML Chairman K P Sharma Oli after several leaders of the party urged him to resign and open the way for party restructuring during a Secretariat meeting on Saturday.

The meeting, held at Oli’s residence in Gundu, saw some leaders argue that the party needed reorganization under new leadership, while others defended the current leadership and stressed the need to strengthen the party under Oli’s guidance.

Deputy General Secretary Lekharaj Bhatta said views were presented by the general secretary, three deputy general secretaries, and five secretaries during the meeting.

He added that discussions from Friday’s session had been exaggerated publicly and said internal debate should be viewed as a natural process within a democratic party.

The Secretariat meeting will continue on Sunday, with the remaining four secretaries expected to present their views before Chairman Oli responds and the meeting concludes.
