Trump-Putin Summit Postponed Amid Ukraine Ceasefire Dispute

A planned summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin has been delayed after Moscow rejected an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine. The decision follows Russia’s refusal to accept a ceasefire based on current frontlines, insisting Ukraine cede more territory first.

As a result, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov canceled a scheduled meeting in Budapest this week. European leaders are urging the US to keep pressure on Russia for a ceasefire to resume peace talks.

Trump had announced last week that he and Putin would meet soon in Hungary to push forward peace efforts, but Moscow’s refusal to consider concessions has stalled preparations. Russia has insisted that Ukraine must cede more territory before any ceasefire can take effect. (Agencies)
