Thailand and Cambodia to Begin Withdrawal of Heavy Weapons
Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to start a phased withdrawal of heavy weapons from their shared border beginning at midnight on November 1.
The move is part of a broader peace agreement witnessed last week by former U.S. President Donald Trump.
The withdrawal will be carried out in three stages.
The first phase will remove multiple-launch rocket systems, the second phase will target artillery and the final phase will focus on armored vehicles and tanks.
The formal agreement was signed by senior military officials from both countries at the Chong Chom–O’Smach Permanent Border Crossing.
A review meeting is scheduled for November 15 to evaluate progress and coordinate the next phases.
Officials said the phased approach aims to ensure a smooth and orderly withdrawal while promoting stability along the border. (Agencies)
