Tensions in Birgunj: APF Personnel Injured During Raid on Illegal Warehouse

Three personnel of Nepal’s Armed Police Force (APF) were injured on Tuesday after they were attacked by a group of local traders during a raid on an illegal warehouse in Birgunj in southern Nepal.

Two APF vehicles were also damaged in the incident.

The raid was jointly conducted by the Birgunj Customs Office and the Armed Police Force at a warehouse located at the residence of Madan Prasad Gupta in the Adarshanagar area, following suspicion that goods had been imported by evading customs duties.

A clash broke out when the joint team attempted to seize illegally stored clothing.

According to Mohan Bahadur Kshetri, Superintendent of Police and Commanding Officer of APF Nepal No. 13 Battalion Headquarters, Parsa, one APF van and one jeep were damaged during the attack by the local trader group. The Armed Police Force said the warehouse operator, Madan Prasad Gupta, had earlier been linked to a separate customs evasion case.
