TAC’s Rokaya Wins 3rd Lumbini Peace Marathon
Binod Rokaya of Tribhuvan Army Club has won the 3rd Peace Marathon.
He completed the 42-kilometer distance in 2 hours 17 minutes 55 seconds. In the competition organized by the Nepal Olympic Committee and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Lumbini Development Fund, Chinese Embassy in Nepal and Lumbini Cultural Municipality, Sushil Kumar Shahi of TAC came second with a timing of 2 hours 18 minutes 16 seconds.
Narendra Singh Raut, also of the TAC, came in the third place. Likewise, Wang Qi of China came fourth in 2 hours 21 minutes 5 seconds, and Kenyan runner Julius Mureyuki Waham stood in the fifth place by completing the race in 2 hours 23 minutes.
In the 21-kilometer half marathon, Tribhuvan Army’s Purna Laxmi Neupane came first in 1 hour 17 minutes 10 seconds, Dhading’s Santoshi Shrestha came second in 1 hour 18 minutes 40 seconds, and NA’s Nisha Sarki came third in 1 hour 19 minutes 19 seconds.
Nepal Army’s Sunsari Rokaya won fourth place in 1 hour 21 minutes 46 seconds, and Ruan Xiang of China came in the fifth place in 1 hour 22 minutes 38 seconds.
The first of the competition was awarded Rs 350,000, the second Rs 250,000, and the third Rs 150,000.
Earlier, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming, Nepal Olympic Committee Chair Jeevan Ram Shrestha, Lumbini Development Fund Member-Secretary Deepak Shrestha, and Lumbini Cultural Municipality Acting Chief Kalpana Harijan, among others, inaugurated the 5-kilometer walkthrough program. (RSS)
