Strong Winds in Forecast

A westerly low-pressure system, combined with local wind patterns, is currently influencing weather conditions across Nepal, bringing widespread cloud cover and the likelihood of precipitation in several regions.

This kind of weather is typical for spring in the Himalayas, where conditions can change quickly shifting from clear skies to rain or storms within a short time.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, the Himalayan belt and key central and western provinces including Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali are experiencing generally cloudy conditions, while other parts of the country remain partly cloudy.

Later today, cloud cover is expected to persist across mountainous and hilly areas, particularly in Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces.

These regions may see moderate rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. Light precipitation is also possible in isolated areas across other hilly and Himalayan regions, including parts of the far-western Terai.

Authorities have also warned of strong winds in several lowland (Terai) areas, including Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.

Tonight, cloudy conditions are likely to continue in the hills and mountains, with further chances of moderate rain or snowfall in parts of western and central Nepal.

Other regions are expected to remain partly cloudy.
