Russia–US–Ukraine Trilateral Talks in Abu Dhabi

Delegations from Russia, the United States and Ukraine is set to continue historic trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, marking the first direct three-way engagement since the conflict began in 2022.
The negotiations started on Friday at the Emirates Palace hotel, aim to explore diplomatic pathways toward ending the nearly four-year war.
Senior officials from all three sides are participating, including U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Russia’s military intelligence chief Igor Kostyukov and top Ukrainian security officials.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said his diplomatic team has been providing regular updates from the UAE and confirmed that discussions are focused on the parameters for ending the war.
He emphasized that Ukraine’s position remains clear and that a defined framework has been set for the talks.
Zelensky said it was too early to draw conclusions, adding that the outcome would depend on how discussions evolve during Saturday’s sessions.
The trilateral meeting followed overnight discussions between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. envoys on Thursday, which the Kremlin described as constructive and candid.
Despite the diplomatic push, fighting continues on the ground, underscoring the challenges facing efforts to reach a ceasefire. (Agencies)
