RSP Vice Chair Aryal Becomes Sole Nominee for Speaker

Only Dol Prasad Aryal, Vice Chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has filed his candidacy to the post of Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) within the designated time, becoming the sole nominee for the Speaker of the Lower House of the Federal Parliament.

According to the timetable prepared by the Federal Parliament Secretariat, the registration of candidacy was scheduled today from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm today at the Parliament Secretariat at Singha Durbar during which only Aryal registered his nomination.

RSP Chairperson and lawmaker Rabi Lamichhane had proposed the candidacy of Aryal while lawmakers Sobita Gautam, Dr Swarnim Wagle and Sunil Lamsal had seconded it.

As per the schedule, the Secretariat has published the information on the only candidate who registered within the designated time.

A proposal seeking election of the Speaker will be presented at the HoR meeting on April 5. As Aryal is the sole candidate to file his nomination, he is expected to be elected to the post unopposed. (RSS)
