RSP Dominates FPTP Results, Wins 125 Seats in House of Representatives

Election results have been declared across Nepal, except for two constituencies which is Sankhuwasabha and Dhanusha-1

In Sankhuwasabha, the CPN UML candidate Arjun Kumar Karki is leading with 13,051 votes, while the Rastriya Swatantra Party RSP candidate Mingma Sherpa has secured 11,789 votes. In the latest results Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate Sudhan Gurung has been elected to the House of Representatives (HoR) member from Gorkha-1.

According to Election Office Gorkha’s information officer Rabilal Subedi, the RSP candidate Gurung secured 29,896 votes, beating his nearest competitor Prem Kumar Khatri of Nepali Congress by 14,498 votes. Khatri secured 15,398 votes.

Similarly, Hari Raj Adhikari of Nepali Communist Party gained 11,124 votes and CPN (UML) candidate garnered 3,732.

With this the Rastriya Swatantra Party has won 125 seats, whereas CPN-UML has been reduced to 8 seats.

The Nepali Congress, which came in second nationally, has won 18 constituencies.

With Karki leading in Sankhuwasabha, CPN-UML could potentially secure 9 seats. Meanwhile, the Nepali Communist Party has won 7 seats.

In Dhanusha-1, the candidacy of Rastriya Swatantra Party’s Kishori Sah Kamal was annulled, leaving CPN candidate Matrika Prasad Yadav in the lead.

However, Kishori Sah has filed a writ at the Supreme Court regarding the annulment.
The Supreme Court issued a notice on Monday, and the final decision is expected on March 13.
Meanwhile, the Shram Sanskriti Party, led by Harka Sampang, has become fifth party in the row.

The party has won seats in Bhojpur, Khotang and Sunsari-1, while narrowly losing in Ilam and Panchthar.

Meanwhile, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party has won one seat in Jumla.
