Road Works Restart on Key Dhulikhel–Khawa Section

The up-gradation of the Dhulikhel–Khawa section of the Araniko Highway in Kavrepalanchowk District in Central Nepal has gained momentum after a new contractor took over the stalled widening project last month.

Dhulikhel, a municipality located east of Kathmandu in Bagmati Province, lies on a key route connecting the capital with eastern regions.

The road section has faced prolonged delays, causing travel difficulties for more than three years.

The Division Road Office in Bhaktapur confirmed that the contract has been awarded to C-NA-1 Kali JV, with a completion deadline of 14 months.

Senior divisional engineer Suman Yogesh said the contract, worth Rs 315.6 million (about USD 2.5 million) excluding VAT has now commenced.

Blacktopping in the widened areas is expected to be completed by mid-April, while remaining works will continue in phases.

Construction crews have intensified road-cutting and widening activities in several segments of the highway.

Authorities hope the renewed work will ease long-standing travel disruptions along this important corridor in central Nepal. (RSS)
