Railway Expansion Work Halted due to Compensation Dispute

Construction work of the East-West Railway has come to a halt due to a compensation dispute. The work has been halted due to a compensation dispute involving 14 people in the Bardibas municipality.
With the assistance of the Indian government, the railway expansion from Jayanagar, India, to the railway station in Bhangaha municipality in Mahottari district is under construction.
However, work from Bhangaha to Bardibas has been halted due to non-payment of compensation.
Fourteen people are yet to be paid compensation of around 80 million rupees.
The Department of Railways has stated that it has requested the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport for the disbursement of the amount.
The victims of Bardibas have repeatedly approached the Railway Department for compensation, but since they did not receive compensation they have obstructed the construction of the railway track in Bardibas. (RSS)
