PSB Nepal Marks its 1st Anniversary

Public Service Broadcasting (PSB) Nepal, formed by merging Nepal Television and Radio Nepal is celebrating its first anniversary today.
On 7th November , 2024 (Kartik 22, 2081 BS), President Ram Chandra Paudel authenticated the Public Service Broadcasting Act, 2081, which officially transformed Nepal Television and Radio Nepal into the unified institution Public Service Broadcasting Nepal.
To mark the occasion, a special ceremony is held today at Nepal Television’s Singha Durbar premises, where President Paudel is attending as the chief guest.
At the same program, President Paudel also officially launch ‘NTV World’, a new English-language television channel.
Based on the recommendations of various expert panels and media commissions, the Public Service Broadcasting Act, 2081 was passed by the Federal Parliament and authenticated by the President.
The law came into effect on November 8, 2024, 31 days after its authentication.
With its implementation, the former Radio Nepal (formed under the Radio Broadcasting Service Development Committee Order, 2041) and Nepal Television (established under the Communication Corporation Act, 2028) were integrated into the new Public Service Broadcasting Nepal.
Following the Act’s enforcement, operational regulations have also been formulated and implemented.
PSB Nepal now functions as a unified institution providing quality, reliable and accountable public service broadcasting through both radio and television platforms.
