PR Vote Count Concludes; RSP Secures 182 Seats in the HoR

The vote counting under the proportional representation (PR) system for the House of Representatives (HoR) election, which took place on March 5, has been completed.

The Election Commission has published the final allocation of seats to the political parties. According to the results, six parties have crossed the electoral threshold and have been recognized as national parties.

The EC stated that 11,168,032 votes were cast out of 18,903,689 registered voters. Of the ballots cast, 94.55% were valid under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) system, while 96.05% were valid under the proportional representation system.

According to the final results, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has secured 57 seats under the PR system, followed by the Nepali Congress with 20 seats, CPN-UML with 16 seats, NCP with nine seats, the SSP and RPP with four seats each.

With this, the RSP now holds 182 out of 275 seats in the House of Representatives, remaining three seats short of the two-thirds majority required in the Parliament.
