PM Shah’s Janmastami Message: Dedicated to Rasuwa Flood-Affected Children

Prime Minister Balendra Shah on Friday extended a message on the occasion of the Shree Krishna Janmastami, expressing concern for children affected by the Bhotekoshi flood. In his address made public through a social media, the Prime Minister Shah said, “You all are the sunshine of tomorrow. We are working for all of your secure future and making every possible effort towards that end. You all will cooperate in this effort.

“But, on this occasion this time, children of the areas affected by the Bhotekoshi flood could not be happy as usual. They are in deep pain. Some are expressing their sufferings, while others are in shock.”

As the Prime Minister said, some children are not even in a position to comprehend or recall what happened to them so suddenly. Their eyes might have been searching for their parents and relatives. Some children might have known in the 10th day of the disaster that our beloved nation Nepal faced a grave disaster, he states.

The country is grief-stricken and children have lost some of their friends, while some houses and settlements have been ravaged by the disaster. The playgrounds have been buried. Their own places have turned into deserts today, according to him.

PM Shah added that immediately after the floods, the government had accorded top priority to rescuing children from the disaster-hit areas along with the seriously injured ones, expectant mothers, new mothers, people with disabilities and the elderly.

The search and rescue works are still underway. PM Shah said although the flood survivors’ stay in holding centres is not comfortable, government is making untiring efforts to manage safe and comfortable housing at the earliest.

“We create an environment where you can dream your future,” he assured the disaster survivors. The head of government also reminded the role of climate change behind such devastation in the Himalayan region.

Nepal has informed the global community on the adversities Nepal has undergone owing to climate change.

“The children in the affected region underwent the adversity of floods,” the PM said and urged the children from other places to stay aware, remain safe and share information on it for their safety too.

Shah stressed special teaching and learning on climate change and its impacts so that school children can learn and adopt measures eg carrying emergency bag, manage small saving and continue debates.

“Disaster causes hardship, pain. So, we need to work with unity, harmony and fraternity,” the PM said, reminding that even the Lord Krishna has encouraged us to remain calm and united to cope with crisis. He called on everyone to maintain unity and patience and devote to build Nepal’s bright future. (RSS)
