PM Karki Briefs Diplomatic Officials On Latest Developments

Prime Minister Sushila Karki has expressed commitment to hand over the power peacefully to the newly elected people’s representative government by holding the election to the House of Representatives within next five months. In course of a briefing to the Diplomatic Corp in Kathmandu on Friday, PM Karki, who also holds the portfolio of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reaffirmed that the main objective of the incumbent government is to hold election on March 5 next year in a free, fearless and impartial manner.

Prime Minister Karki also said that the government has begun taking action against deeply rooted corruption by initiating investigations and opening case files for prosecution, and emphasized the government’s strong commitment to transparency and accountability. The Prime Minister added that the current government is taking swift steps to strengthen accountability mechanisms across all levels of governance.

Highlighting Nepal’s contribution to international peace efforts, Prime Minister Karki expressed pride to be the country that sends the largest number of troops to UN peacekeeping operations. The Prime Minister also said Nepal stands at a critical juncture as the country prepares to graduate from the LDC status next year.
