Palestine Welcomes UN Resolution on Gaza

The State of Palestine welcomed the adoption by the UN Security Council of the US-drafted resolution on the Gaza Strip, which affirms the establishment of a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire, guarantees the unimpeded entry and delivery of humanitarian aid, and upholds the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state.

Palestine stressed the need for swift and effective action to implement the resolution on the ground, including restoring normal life in the Gaza Strip, ensuring the protection of its population, preventing displacement, securing the complete withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces, advancing reconstruction efforts, halting measures that undermine the two-state solution, and preventing any attempts at annexation.

The State of Palestine also affirmed its full readiness to cooperate with the US administration, members of the Security Council, Arab and Islamic countries, the European Union and its member states, the United Nations, parties to the international coalition, and the partners in the New York Declaration to ensure the resolution’s enforcement.

Such efforts, it said, would help end the suffering of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem, and pave the way for a credible political process that achieves peace and security based on the two-state solution and in accordance with international law and international legitimacy.

Palestine further reiterated its readiness to assume its full responsibilities in the Gaza Strip within the framework of the unity of land, people, and institutions, affirming that the Strip is an integral part of the State of Palestine. (QNA)
