Nepal’s Top Court Stays Ex-Judge and Military’s Asset Investigation

Nepal’s Supreme Court has issued an interim order directing the Asset Investigation Commission not to investigate the assets of former judges and retired military personnel until further notice.
A division bench of Justices Tek Prasad Dhungana and Shrikant Poudel ordered that no one be compelled to submit asset details until the writ petition is heard by a full bench.
The court also directed the Commission not to proceed with investigations into asset declarations already submitted or recommend any legal action for the time being.
The writ petition challenging the Commission’s actions was filed by advocate Dr. Premraj Silwal.
