Nepal’s President Paudel Wraps Up Doha Visit
President Ramchandra Paudel returned to Nepal on Thursday after attending the Second World Summit for Social Development held in Doha, Qatar, where he called for greater global cooperation to advance inclusion, equity, and sustainable development.
During his address at the summit – organized under a UN General Assembly mandate – President Paudel reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to social justice, equality, and sustainable growth, emphasizing that inclusion and shared prosperity are essential for lasting peace and human dignity.
He urged the international community to translate the Doha Declaration into “bold and coordinated actions,” highlighting that the summit would be meaningful for developing and least developed countries only if it led to tangible global support.
President Paudel also outlined Nepal’s progress in poverty reduction, gender equality, and clean energy access, noting that over 95 percent of Nepal’s population now has access to clean energy and that poverty has halved since 1995.

The President led the Nepali delegation at the invitation of Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and also held talks with UN Secretary-General António Guterres during his stay.
Upon his return, Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai said the visit had “strengthened Nepal’s presence on the international stage” and amplified its voice in favor of developing nations. RSS
