Nepal’s Cabinet Emphasizes Tightening Financial Governance
Nepal’s Cabinet has rolled out a series of key decisions aimed at tightening financial governance and strengthening public administration.
Government spokesperson Jagadish Kharel announced that from January 15th, any transaction worth five hundred thousand rupees or more must be carried out only through the banking system, a move intended to curb illicit cash dealings.
Nepal has also pledged two hundred thousand US dollars in aid to Sri Lanka following deadly floods and landslides there.
Other decisions include updates to judicial remuneration, key government appointments, approval of new economic and carbon-trading regulations, and a restructuring survey for 15 health institutions.
The Cabinet has extended by 30 days the committee assessing damages from the GenZ protests in early September, and instructed it to prepare a reconstruction plan.
