Nepal PM Karki Commits to Timely Election, Calls for Cooperation from Province Governments

Nepal Prime Minister Sushila Karki met with the Chief Ministers of all seven provinces of the country today.

During the meeting, PM Karki made it clear that her transitional government is committed to moving forward in collaboration with the political parties within the framework of the constitution.

Stating that a stable government is the one elected by the people, PM Karki said elections and political parties are complementary to each other.

PM Karki said creating an environment conducive to elections is the top priority.

Stating that 90% of police infrastructure damaged during the protests has been rebuilt by local communities themselves, PM Karki said the people’s support has helped to boost the morale of security organizations.

The Prime Minister called for support and collaboration from the province government’s in materializing the goal of holding the election in time.

Chief Minister of Koshi Province Hikmat Bahadur Karki, Chief Minister of Madhesh Province Jitendra Bahadur Sonar, Chief Minister of Bagmati Province Indra Bahadur Baniya, Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Surendra Raj Pandey, Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Chet Narayan Acharya, Chief Minister of Karnali Province Yamlal Kandel and Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province Kamal Bahadur Shah were present at the meeting with Prime Minister Karki.

PM Karki’s Press Coordinator Ram Bahadur Rawal said that the meeting was summoned to initiate dialogue between the federal and province governments in the changing political context and strengthen the intergovernmental relations.
