Nepal in UNGA: Nepal Grenada Establish Diplomatic Ties

At a brief ceremony organized at Nepal’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly, Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal and Grenada’s Minister of Finance Denis Cornwall signed a joint communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Prior to the signing ceremony, the two ministers held discussions on various matters of mutual interest.

During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the importance of cooperation to accelerate progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to address the impacts of climate change.

They also discussed possibilities of exchanging experiences and best practices in areas of mutual interest such as tourism and education.

With the establishment of diplomatic relations with Grenada, Nepal has now established diplomatic ties with 186 countries.
