Nepal Election: Code of Conduct to Be Enforced from January 17

The Election Commission (EC) briefed Prime Minister Sushila Karki today on the Code of Conduct for the upcoming House of Representatives election, which will take effect on January 17.

Acting Chief Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari and other senior officials also discussed election management and preparations.

The EC announced that political parties and independent candidates can access the voter list across the country for a fee. Parties can obtain the full national list for Rs 10,000, which is approximately 75 dollars and for provincial lists for Rs 5,000 around 38 dollars, and district or constituency lists for Rs 3,000 approximately 28 dollars.

The data will be provided electronically on a hard drive or pen drive, excluding voters’ dates of birth, citizenship numbers, and mobile numbers.

Voters wishing to access their own information can request a copy of their details from election offices.

Election offices are required to provide access in a way that prevents tampering, damaging, or altering the official voter list.
