Nepal Beats Oman, Secures Top Spot
Nepal has defeated Oman by 38 runs in the Super Six stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia-East Asia Pacific Qualifier.
Chasing 152 runs, Oman was stopped at 113 for 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Binayak Shukla made 32 runs for Oman. For Nepal, Gulshan Jha took 3 wickets, while Sompal Kami and Nandan Yadav took two each and Sandeep Lamichhane claimed one.
Earlier, winning the toss, Nepal chose to bat and scored 151 runs in 20 overs for 9 wickets.
Kushal Bhurtel played a knock of half-century and Kushal Malla crossed 1000 runs in T20I by scoring 7 runs against Oman.
Securing 8 points, Nepal claimed the top position, while Oman stands second. Kushal Bhurtel was named the player of the match.
Nepal which had already qualified for ICC T20 World Cup 2026 ahead of the match against Oman is one match way from winning the trophy.
Along with Nepal, that is at the top of the points table, Oman has also qualified for the T20 World Cup as the 19th team.
Nepal is playing its final match of the Super Six against Samoa on Friday.
This is the third time Nepal has qualified for the ICC T20 World Cup. Nepal made its maiden T20 World Cup appearance in 2014, and second in 2024.
