Nearly 19 Million Registered as Nepal Finalises Voter List

Nepal’s Election Commission of Nepal has published the final voter list for the House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5, marking a key procedural step ahead of the nationwide polls.

The Commission said a total of 18.9 million voters are now registered to vote, an increase of more than 915,000 voters compared to the previous parliamentary and provincial elections.

According to Election Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, the final voter roll includes 9.66 million men, 9.24 million women, and 200 voters registered under other gender categories.

The updated list has been made publicly available on the Commission’s official website.

The voter roll was finalised in accordance with Nepal’s Voter Registration Act and related procedures, which allow citizens who will turn 18 years of age by March 4 to be included in the final register.

The Election Commission also confirmed logistical preparations for the polls, stating that voting will take place across 10,967 polling locations, with a total of 23,112 polling stations nationwide.

Nepal is preparing for the parliamentary elections amid an interim political arrangement, with the vote seen as constitutionally mandated to restore political continuity and institutional legitimacy.
