Mostly New Legislators to Feature in Parliament

Most members taking oath of office and secrecy at the House of Representatives (HoR) today are new faces.
Most of the parliamentarians elected on March 5 are new faces, while limited members of some political parties have been elected twice or thrice times in the parliament.
Except for the leaders of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), and the Shram Sanskriti Party, the main leaders of other parties who participated in the recently-held election will not feature in parliament this time.
A total of 14 parliamentarians have been reelected from RSP which has secured a total of 182 seats in the law-making body this time.
RSP President Rabi Lamichhane and the two vice presidents, Dol Prasad Aryal and Dr. Swarnim Wagle, had previously been in parliament.
Similarly, among the parliamentarians reelected from the RSP are Indira Rana Magar, Dr. Amresh Kumar Singh, Sobita Gautam, Shishir Khanal, Ganesh Parajuli, Hari Dhakal, Ashok Kumar Chaudhary, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, Nisha Dangi, Manish Jha, and Dr. Tosima Karki. They are elected through the first-past-the-post electoral system.
Among the 38 MPs elected from the Nepali Congress in this election, eight members have been re-elected. Lawmakers including Arjun Narasingh KC, Bhishma Raj Angdambe, Mohan Acharya, Bharat Bahadur Khadka, Janak Giri, Chandra Mohan Yadav, Tek Bahadur Gurung, Yogesh Gauchan Thakali, and Abhishek Pratap Sah were also elected before.
Among 25 MPs elected from the CPN (UML), Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal, Padma Aryal, Yagya Bahadur Bogati, Ganesh Singh Thagunna, Mohammad Istiyak Rai, Laxmi Prasad Pokharel and Suhang Nembang have been re-elected.
Among the 17 elected from the Nepali Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Matrika Prasad Yadav, Barsha Man Pun, Dhan Bahadur Budha and Mahendra Bahadur Shahi have been re-elected.
Among the five MPs from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Gyanendra Bahadur Shahi has been re-elected. He is the only directly elected MP from that party.
