Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Sah Resigns

The Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Balendra Shah (Balen), resigned from his post on Sunday. He resigned in order to be a candidate in the upcoming election of House of Representative, scheduled for March 5, 2026.

After submitting his resignation as Mayor, Balen attended the central office of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) in Banasthali and took the position of senior leader of the party as he had already joined the RSP.

Along with him, Gen-Z leader Sudhan Gurung has also reached RSP office. Gurung also has announced that he will be joining the party.

There was a large crowd to welcome Balen, whom the RSP has portrayed as a potential candidate for the upcoming Prime Minister of the country.
