Jeep Accident Kills Three in Kalikot

Three people died in a jeep accident on Friday evening at around 6:00 pm in Shubhakalika Rural Municipality-4, Salleri, located in Kalikot district of Karnali Province in northwestern Nepal.

The jeep which was traveling on the Seri–Pantadi road towards Salleri, went out of control and overturned, resulting in a crash.

The vehicle reportedly went in reverse before the accident occurred.

Kalikot Police Chief Him Bahadur Khatri said the three victims died on the spot. They were two excavator operators and one co-driver involved in road construction work on the Seri–Pantadi road.

The deceased have been identified as Shankar Kathayat (28) from Dailekh district, Karnali Province, Tekendra Shahi from Achham district, Sudurpashchim Province and C0 driver Navaraj Shahi from Shubhakalika-2, Kalikot district of Karnali Province

The police recovered the bodies from a cliff and said preparations were underway to transport them to the district headquarters for post-mortem procedures.

The jeep was found heavily damaged, lying about 500 metres below the road on the bank of the Tila River.

Police said, the jeep driver has come to the police contact but is yet to be interrogated.

Following the accident, a team including Chief District Officer Gorkanraj Suyal, Police Chief Khatri, district police, and armed police personnel reached the site for investigation and rescue efforts. (RSS)
