Iran Says Attacks Killed Over 100 Children, Calls Strikes War Crimes

Iran has accused the United States and Israel of committing war crimes following recent attacks, saying civilian areas including a school were targeted.

Speaking at the United Nations, Amir-Saeid Iravani, Iran’s Permanent Representative, told the Security Council that a school in the city of Minab was hit, killing more than 100 children, and warned that the number of innocent civilian casualties continues to rise.

Iravani said the strikes were “not only an act of aggression, but a war crime and a crime against humanity,” rejecting U.S. justifications for the use of force as illegal and without any basis under international law. He said claims of pre-emptive self-defence and alleged imminent threats could not legitimize what he described as unlawful aggression.

Iran urged the Security Council to uphold the UN Charter and hold those responsible accountable, as divisions among major powers deepened over the escalating conflict. (UNTV)
