HoR Approves Proposal Seeking Consideration on Bill on Security of Health Workers

The meeting today of the House of Representatives has approved a proposal seeking consideration on the ‘Bill Related to the Security of Health Workers and Health Institutions (Second Amendment), 2083’.

The proposal presented by the Minister for Health and Food Safety, Nisha Mehta, during today’s session, was approved unanimously. While presenting the proposal, Minister Mehta stated that the legislation is being formulated to ensure timely laws that prioritize the security of health workers and health institutions.

She expressed confidence that the bill would put an end to attacks and physical assaults against doctors and health workers.

Earlier, participating in the discussion on the principles of the Bill, MPs Ganesh Karki, Ramesh Kumar Malla, Kamal Subedi, Gyanendra Singh Mahata, Asha Jha, Tek Bahadur Shakya, Parbati BK, Achutam Lamichhane, Tukabhadra Hamal, Samina Miya, Sajida Khatun Siddiqui, Yagyamani Neupane, Prabha Dhakal, Pushpa Kumari Chaudhary, Ganesh Paudyal, Samiksha Baskota, Toshima Karki, Ganesh Bahadur Bishwakarma, Ojaswi Sherchan, Hari Prasad Bhusal, Narendra Sah Kalwar, Hari Mohan Bhandari, Ganga Devi Shrestha, Madhu Kumar Chaulagai, Rajan Gautam, Lekhjang Thapa, and others emphasized that attacks on healthcare workers cannot be tolerated under any circumstances, while grievances arising in hospitals must be addressed appropriately.
