High Alert against Bird Flu in Kavrepalanchowk
Kavrepalanchowk and adjoining district Sindhupalchowk have been placed on high-alert due to risk of bird flu outbreak.
Stakeholders have advised the district administration to increase testing and surveillance against the virus outbreak taking toll on domestic fowl, citing that timely precautionary measures will help minimise the risk of infection.
The District Livestock Services Office, Dhulikhel has also decided to remain on much aware to fend off the potential entry of the virus in the district. Cases of bird flu infection have already been reported from some parts in the country.
Likewise, the Office decided to increase the surveillance along the border points between the two districts and to conduct regular inspections of poultry farms.
Mangaltar, a major gateway to the district, especially from the Terai region, will remain under strict monitoring.
Likewise, Sanga and Nala, the eastern checkpoints near the federal capital, will also be kept under surveillance.
In addition, awareness programmes about the risk and consequences of bird flu will be organised. Prompt sample tests will be ensured for poultry brought from eastern regions, said Chief District Officer Gopal Kumar Adhikari.
Livestock Services Office Chief Bajra Kishore Thakur said the Office is coordinating with other agencies for the prevention of the virus into the district. (RSS)
