Government Declares Iilam a Disaster-Hit Area

The government has declared Ilam as the landslide and flood-hit district. A cabinet meeting held at the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers at Singha Durbar on Thursday took the decision to this effect, shared Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagadish Kharel.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), a total of 39 people lost their lives in Ilam district due to recent landslides and floods. Similarly, a person went missing and 26 others were injured in the incidents in Ilam. The landslides and floods caused huge destruction to the road networks in the district.
The government granted permission to the Nepal Electricity Authority to issue energy bond of worth Rs 20 billion to manage resources for the construction of hydropower projects.
Likewise, Deputy Inspector Generals of Nepal Police Sushil Singh Rathore, Uma Prasad Chaturbedi, Himalaya Kumar Shrestha and Dambar Bahadur Bishwokarma have been promoted to the post of Additional Inspector Generals (AIGs).
The meeting also dissolved the Land Problem Settlement Commission formed as per Land Problem Settlement Commission Formation Order, 2081 BS and district committees of all districts.
The cabinet sent the report presented by a committee formed to search for land and movable assets in the name of Tribhuvan University to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology for the implementation as well as sent a report presented by a high-level study and investigation committee-2082 formed to resolve problems related to immigration and visit visa to the Home Ministry for its implementation.
Minister Kharel added that a decision was taken to send a report submitted by a high-level study and suggestion committee formed to reform civil aviation sector to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation for its implementation.
