Government Decision to Remove Equity Tax Welcoming-President Thapa

Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Kumar Thapa has welcomed the government’s decision to remove three percent equity tax imposed on education and health effective from the current fiscal year.

Taking to his social media account, President Thapa said the education and health are not a luxury claiming that the NC has been raising voice against particular taxation as inappropriate.

“All citizens choosing private school and hospitals are not affluent. This is not a luxury for many but a compulsion”, he wrote. The private sector is also an inseparable partner of the education and health. The policy to impose additional fee or tax burden on service delivery would never address problems”, main opposition NC President Thapa noted.

He also stressed that the legal and administrative process to bring into implementation the government’s decision to eliminate equity tax should be legitimate. (RSS)
