FNCCI Welcomes Government’s Decision to Implement PSPP

The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has welcomed the government’s decision to immediately execute the Private Sector Protection and Promotion (PSPP) strategy proposed by it, saying the decision has encouraged the country’s private sector.

FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal, in a press statement today, expressed gratitude to the government for deciding to immediately implement the PSPP strategy. The Cabinet, in its meeting on March 27, decided to implement the strategy, addressing the demands of the Federation.

The PSPP programme is included in the 100 action points related to governance reforms that the government announced on March 28.

The FNCCI had demanded the government to formulate a strategy to protect and promote private and public businesses as public property because, during the various past movements including the Gen Z movement in September 2025, there were attacks on private and public businesses without reason, causing damage.

FNCCI had organised an economic debate programme on November 8, 2025 and for the first time called attention of the government, stating that the strategy was necessary in the changed circumstances.

The FNCCI had presented the PSPP concept to the government after holding additional discussions on the partnership programme for peace, stability and prosperity.

“This has affirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the protection of private sector businesses, individuals and investment, as well as their necessary promotion. We expect this will boost the morale of the private sector and assist in promoting investment,” said the FNCCI President Dhakal.

The 60th point of the government’s 100-point programme on administrative reform includes ‘PSPP’.

As per the request of the FNCCI for policy-level reforms, the government decided to implement the suggestions submitted by the High-Level Economic Reform Recommendation Commission formed for economic reforms.

Newly appointed Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle took the decision to take 15 laws in the process to annul them.

The third executive committee meeting of the FNCCI organised at Dhorpatan had decided to request the government to form high-level economic reform recommendation commission to prepare roadmap of second-phase economic reform by organising economic debate and lobbied for that.

The FNCCI had urged for amendment, revision and scrapping of laws through the National Economic Transformation-2030.

“PSPP would work as a mechanism for the implementation of Commission’s recommendations. We will collaborate with the government to prepare strategy and implement it,” said Dhakal.
Similarly, it is said that the decision of making an integrated structure of similar bodies like Investment Board, Department of Industry for the facilitation of foreign investment would help provide easy and smooth services to service seekers, the FNCCI stated. (RSS)
